Dorchester District Two Attendance Policy
-
The Attendance Policies of Dorchester District Two are based on South Carolina law. You and your parents can check the Dorchester District Two Parent Student Handbook for further clarification of District Two Attendance Policies, but here are some general guidelines:
- You must present an excuse for your absence within THREE DAYS of your return to school.
- The excuse must be from a parent, guardian, or physician.
- The excuse must include the date it was written.
- The excuse must include the date(s) of your absence and the SPECIFIC reason for your absence.
- The excuse must include a contact number for your parent/guardian or physician.
- Students enrolled in high school credit courses must adhere to the district guidelines regarding attendance as it relates to earning Carnegie credit. These guidelines stipulate that a student enrolled in a Carnegie earning credit class may not miss more than 10 classes.
Tardy Policy
If a student is not in the appropriate classroom by the start of school (8:10 a.m.), he/she is considered late and will be marked unexcused tardy. Students arriving to school after 8:10am will report to the front office to sign in and also be considered unexcused tardy. Students who are late to school because of a bus mechanical failure will be considered excused. You and your parents can check the Dorchester District Two Parent Student Handbook for further clarification of District Two Absentee Policies, but here are some general guidelines for Middle School:
These consequences are administered on a semester basis by class period:
