First of all, I would like to say that your child will be missed in the coming weeks. Although this is a difficult situation for many, I know that we will come out of this empowered and ready to SHINE! I am here for you all, so please email me if you need any support.
In addition to the materials that will be sent out by your child’s homeroom teacher, I have created a Padlet (link below) for students that see me for their Reading, Writing, and/or Math instruction. The materials on the Padlet are a replacement for the subject in which your child receives core instruction from me. For example, if your child receives Reading, Language Arts, and Math instruction from me, then they should complete my lesson plans (on the Padlet) in place of their grade level Reading, Language Arts, and Math. If your child would like to complete their grade-level work in addition to the lesson plans from me, that is ok as well. For my subjects, I have included a lot of work to ensure that your child has enough to keep them busy and keep the learning happening. I have included 4 weeks of plans just in case. We are still on schedule to return 4/1 and in this case, only lesson plans for weeks 1, 2, and half of 3 will need to be followed. If your time is limited and you don’t think your child will be able to complete all the work, I would advise you to prioritize logging on to Ticket to Read and VMath Live each day to complete one lesson, in addition to reading with your child for at least 20 minutes each day. I have attached parent directions for Ticket to Read, VMath Live, and logging in to Clever. Please have your child log in to Clever first, as this is the place where all the apps are located.
Clever is the main login. Once your child is in Clever, they will find the Ticket to Read and VMath icons, along with other icons that their homeroom teachers will be utilizing for science/social studies. If they click on my name (Ms. Williams – a pink owl icon), they will find ABCMouse and Freckle. Both of these apps are great for them to use and do not need a password if they are already logged in to Clever. Starfall has activities for levels K-2 but can also benefit students working below grade level. Below, I have written your child’s username (UN) and password (PW) for the various online tools they will need to be using.
Packets were available in the front office only for students whose parents indicated they need one through the survey For students who did not make contact, packets were mailed home. All materials in packets are available on my Padlet so you do not have to come to school unless you have no internet access and need them.
Please let me know if you need any assistance. Even though teachers are not at school, we will be working to assist students, plan, and make this time valuable for your child’s education. We are here for you!
