Spann Elementary PTA makes a difference for students!
Spann Elementary PTA is a non-profit, volunteer organization made up of parents, teachers, and community members committed to enhancing the educational experience for all Spann students. The efforts of the PTA provide many valuable services for students, families, and staff. Through hosting fun family events, funding classroom grants, supporting school-wide initiatives and more, the PTA creates a sense of community and a positive learning environment for all students. We invite you to become an active member of Spann Elementary PTA!
Mission Statement
PTA's mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.
PTA Values- Collaboration: We will work in partnership with a wide array of individuals and organizations to broaden and enhance our ability to serve and advocate for all children and families.
- Commitment: We are dedicated to children’s educational success, health, and well-being through strong family and community engagement, while remaining accountable to the principles upon which our association was founded.
- Diversity: We acknowledge the potential of everyone without regard, including but not limited to: age, culture, economic status, educational background, ethnicity, gender, geographic location, legal status, marital status, mental ability, national origin, organizational position, parental status, physical ability, political philosophy, race, religion, sexual orientation, and work experience.
- Respect: We value the individual contributions of members, employees, volunteers, and partners as we work collaboratively to achieve our association’s goals.
- Accountability: All members, employees, volunteers, and partners have a shared responsibility to align their efforts toward the achievement of our association’s strategic initiatives.
Student & Family Involvement: The PTA works hard to provide fun events and activities for our students and their families. We host movie nights, game nights, holiday events such as Cookies and Caroling and more. All of these events are offered by the PTA at little or no cost to Spann families. We also provide volunteers and support for school functions including book fairs, PBIS Green Zone Celebrations, Spring Reading Carnival and Field Day.
Staff Appreciation: The PTA coordinates several annual hospitality events for our wonderful staff. We provide a Welcome Back Breakfast at the beginning of the school year, luncheons and other festivities during Staff Appreciation Week, as well as other small tokens of appreciation throughout the school year.
Classroom Grants: Because our dedicated team of educators often spend substantial amounts of their own money to purchase educational supplies for their classrooms and students, the PTA provides classroom grants to help staff provide new materials for students. Recent grants have been used to purchase manipulatives and learning aids for our preschool special education classrooms, curriculum for our music programs, art supplies for the art program, books for a 2nd grade novel study, hockey sticks for PE and so much more!
School Improvement: As the school identifies the need for large projects such as playground renovations, new stage lighting, technology, etc., the PTA provides funds, supplies or services to make those projects a reality. We most recently joined forces with Extended Day to purchase a large sun shade for one of our playgrounds.
