Covid 19 School Closure APRIL LEARNING EXPECTATIONS for Ms. Gorrell's and Ms. Perez's Freshman Seminar and English Lab classes:
If you haven’t already logged in to Microsoft TEAMS, please do so! It is free to download (to your phone or your tablet). You can also log-in to it from your Clever.com account or click the link from the SHS website. On TEAMS, you can look for your Distance Learning Expectations and Assignments. You can chat with us, post pictures of your assignments, pictures of you doing your Read180 program online, as well as see assignments for all of your classes. Check in with us! Once you check in through Teams OR through email, you’ll get your first 100% in the gradebook for 4th Quarter!
Our emails are agorrell@dorchester2.k12.sc.us and kperez@dorchester2.k12.sc.us.
All Distance Learning grades will be posted to Q4. Please do not wait until the last minute to do your work! Your grades will come from your Read180 minutes and Zones scores, Reading Counts progress, eReads, homemade reading log, and from your Bingo board journal entries (see the back of this sheet). You can send us pictures of your eReads, homemade Reading Log, and Bingo board journal entries. We will pull your Read180 data for you.
Stay healthy and safe and please let us know how you are doing! We miss seeing your faces each day!

Covid 19 School Closure MARCH LEARNING EXPECTATIONS for Ms. Gorrell's and Ms. Perez's Freshman Seminar and English Lab classes:
Students, please access your Read180/S44 software from home. You can do this through Clever.com or through the SAM link provided here: https://idp-awsprod1.education.scholastic.com/idp/. Your username and password are the same as if you were logging in from our classroom. Please remember your Read180 software best practices (you should find a quiet place to work and set a timer for 20-25 minutes). Remember your responses create the learning activities, so you want to do your very best so that the software does not assign you extra review for skills you've already mastered! Please also complete one eRead per week we are out and also choose an eBook to read for 20-25 minutes daily. Please create your own Reading Log on a blank sheet of paper. Make sure to include the date, the titles of your eReads and eBooks, the scores you've earned on the Reading Counts tests, and the number of minutes you've read each day. This log will be collected as a grade when you return, along with your RC scores, and your Read180/S44 software scores.
We hope you and your family stay well during this time! We look forward to seeing all of you when we return! Please remember, you can reach us with any questions through email @ agorrell@dorchester2.k12.sc.us and kperez@dorchester2.k12.sc.us or through Microsoft Teams. This information is posted on our websites and in Microsoft Teams.
Thank you,
Ms. Gorrell and Ms. Perez

Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Gorrell
I am a two-time graduate of Charleston Southern University, where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Psychology and my Master's Degree in Elementary Education. I am honored to be returning to SHS for the second year as a reading intervention teacher. Prior to joining the Greenwave family, I taught at Flowertown Elementary for eleven years. My family and I live in the Low Country and love the outdoors! Our English Foundations, Freshman Seminar, and English Lab classes are continuing to work hard on meeting their independent goals! I am so proud of the progress they're making so far.
