Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Stephanie Shank

I am overjoyed to begin my eleventh year teaching and to be joining the talented Fine Arts Department at Summerville High School. While teaching I enjoy maintaining a personal studio practice in photography, ceramic arts, graphic design, and painting. I attended Clemson University and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography and Ceramic Arts in 2007. After completing my BFA, I continued my education at the Savannah College of Art and Design where I received a Master of Arts in Teaching in 2008. In 2015, I received National Board Certification in Early Adolescent through Young Adult Art. In the summer of 2017, I completed my Gifted and Talented Endorsement and received Advanced Placement Certification from the College Board. This past winter I began a Master of Fine Arts in Photography program at the Savannah College of Art and Design. I am excited to complete this final education endeavor in 2019!

I am an advocate displaying student work in local, statewide, and national student exhibitions. During the past ten years my students have received numerous awards, including three consecutive years at first place honors in Lexington Medical Centers? Art of Healing competition, numerous awards at Winthrop University?s statewide high school photography competition, the Congressional Art Award, various exhibitions at the Columbia Museum of Art, and yearly awards at the South Carolina State Fair and local exhibitions. My students never cease to amaze me both in the classroom and while professionally displaying their work throughout our community.
