WELCOME BACK!!! I am so excited for the new school year.  This is year 23 for me.  I’m a graduate of the College of Charleston with a B.S. in Special Education.  I have M.S. ED. from Southern Wesleyan University.   I have been married to my husband Carlos for 33 years.  We have 2 adult children – Carlos & Melissa (Chris) and 3 grandchildren.  I am not a Clemson or Carolina fan because I am a Georgia girl born and raised.  My team is the Georgia Bulldogs.  My favorite thing to do is spend time with my grandchildren, READ and play games on my iPad.

I love teaching and look forward to teaching your son/daughter this year.  My teacher assistant this year is Mr. Terrance McLeod.  My goal for each student is for them to have the necessary skills to be as independent as possible, to prepare them for high school and to make the transition from middle school to high school a smooth one.  They will receive instruction in Functional Reading, Functional Math, Functional Science and Functional Social Studies.  They will also receive lessons in Life Skills and Pre-vocational Skills and Social Skills.  I am looking forward to working with each student and helping them to continue to be successful.  You will receive a quarterly progress report to keep you informed of your child’s progress on their IEP goals and objectives.   Grades in their elective classes will be based on their participation in the class.

A copy of our daily schedule, detailed grading policy and classroom procedures was sent home the first week of school.  In order for all students to learn effectively, it is important that each student follow these procedures.  A copy of the school-wide rules and procedures are located in the student agenda and the parent/student handbook.

I use Remind to keep in contact with parents.  If you have not signed up already, please do so as soon as possible. To sign up for Mrs. Jones Class 2019-2020, text the message @2ea4he to the number 81010.
