Welcome to my page ROMS! My name is Madison Price. I am so excited to be teaching 8th Grade ELA this year. I am here to prepare your students for their academic careers in high school as they will soon be making that transition. I hope to be able to instill a passion for reading and writing in your student, while working to build confidence in their academic abilities.
A little about me: this is my 2nd year at ROMS. I am a Saluda, SC native. I love coffee, poetry, okra and anything that involves music. I moved to Charleston to attend the College of Charleston but still go home to visit my family! I grew up in a very rural town where there are more cows than people. My favorite subjects to teach within ELA are poetry and narrative writing- I encourage the students to find their voice through their writing.
8th grade English Language Arts covers a wide variety of standards that will encompass both reading and writing standards to prep the students for high school level literacy. A few highlights for the year will be a study of the play The Diary of Anne Frank, a novel study of Dear Martin by Nic Stone and a minimum of one Text Dependent Analysis per quarter. The students will also be working on a Capstone Project of their choice for Semester 1 and Semester 2. These will be major assignments that will contribute to their overall grade.
My personal mission is to create an environment where your learner can be challenged academically, cared for, and empowered.
