Mr. Ike Bullard

Longtime coach in Charleston.

Played on 3 bowl championship teams as a defensive back at East Carolina.

Served as a captain in the Marines and was a helicopter pilot with the Purple Foxes, one of the most storied and decorated units in the history of the Marine Corps.  Awarded 6 Air Medals, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Purple Heart, and the Boeing Vertol  Rescue Award for pulling out a ten man recon team under heavy enemy fire in Viet Nam.

In business for 13 years before entering the coaching profession.

As a head coach, he received the Franklin Circle Coaching Award from Scholastic Coach Magazine. He produced two high school All Americans, who still have several passing records in South Carolina High School League’s Finest. Also, named region coach of the year twice in football and once in tennis.

 While coaching, he served as sports analyst with WCIV from 1986-1993.

He has served as chaplain for the Charleston Riverdogs Minor League Baseball team for 30 years.

Also, for the last 15 years has been the chaplain for the South Carolina Stingrays Hockey Team.

Coach Bullard has taught at Gregg Middle School for the last 21 years and has served as an assistant for Fort Dorchester, as well, Summerville High. He is presently coaching for the Gregg Middle School football team.

He is married to the former Sharon Smith of Summerville and has four sons.
