Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Ron Jenkins
I grew up in a large family on the west bank of the Mississippi River in New Orleans, Louisiana. When I was 16, my family moved to the small town of Clinton, Mississippi. It was a shock moving from a 24-hour city like New Orleans to a bedroom community outside of the Mississippi state capitol. After graduating from high school, I married my high school sweetheart and we matriculated from Mississippi State University (Go Bulldogs!).
After university, we moved to New Orleans where my wife taught school at a bayou high school (some of the kids came to school in a boat!) while I worked on my Master’s degree.
We have lived in Summerville, S.C. for the last 28 years and consider it home. Both of our children, Ben (married to Janine), and Amber (married to Eric) are graduates of Summerville High School and have given us four beautiful grandchildren, Samuel, Addison, Liv, and Amelia.
I taught High School for many years in Berkeley County, but my desire to teach closer to home brought me to DuBose Middle. During the past 14 years, I have taught all grades of science and GATE science classes. I hold a valid South Carolina teaching certificate and am rated highly qualified in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Middle School Science, and Choral Music.
