Hello! My name is Ms. Gilliard and I value honesty, accountability, productivity, and family. My goal as an educator is to ensure that individual student’s needs are met through a variety of methods. Learning should be enjoyable and teaching should be flexible. I am a native of Charleston, South Carolina. I received my undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston and my graduate degree from Southern Wesleyan University. I have been teaching at Joseph R Pye Elementary since the school opened in 2011.
System44 is a decoding intervention program. This program is divided into 160 Topics of instruction that will provide your child with the foundations to be a good reader. System 44 teaches students to decode so that they can focus on understanding text.
For students in grades 2-3, I provide support in stregthening foundational reading skills neccessary for decoding and fluency mastery that leads to success in reading grade level text.
