Mrs. Ivey is originally from Dillon, South Carolina, but has lived in the Charleston area since 1990 when she moved here to attend the College of Charleston.  While at C of C, Mrs. Ivey received her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology.  She worked for the Medicaid Division of the Department of Social Services for three years and then returned to school at the Citadel and earned her Master’s degree in teaching.  Mrs. Ivey began her teaching career at James Island High School and has since taught at Dillon High School, Summerville High School, and Cross High School.

Mrs. Ivey has been married to her husband Brian for over 20 years, and they have three children:  twins, Lily and Jackson; and Joseph. Lily, Jack, and Joseph attend schools in Hanahan, where they live with their parents and their Australian Shepherd dog, Ginger.

 Mrs. Ivey loves to read, binge-watch shows on Netflix, and travel.  She especially loves travelling in Europe where she and her family lived for 3 years.  Her favorite countries to visit are Italy and Hungary.  She hopes to visit there again very soon.
