Ms. Kristin Kofoid
Ms. Kofoid is originally from Milwaukee Wisconsin and moved south when she married her husband who was transferred to
South Carolina while serving in the armed forces. She attended Trident Technical College, the College of Charleston and later, Lesley University.
After attending the College of Charleston, where Ms. Kofoid pursued a Mathematics major and an Education minor, she started her career as a highly qualified teacher for Fort Dorchester High School. As a third year teacher working at Fort, Ms. Kofoid was accepted into the Curriculum Leadership Institute ,where she learned strategies that would assist her with curriculum development and implementation across educational disciplines. Additionally, as a third year teacher, she continued her education by earning her Masters Degree in Education with a focus on instructional technology at Lesley University. After graduating from Lesley University, Ms. Kofoid decided to expand her use of instructional technology by transferring to Stratford High School. At that time, Stratford had extensive software and hardware available for instructional use. While at Stratford, Ms. Kofoid expanded her professional development beyond the mathematics classroom to include Pre-engineering. Ms. Kofoid trained for and taught Project Lead the Way Pre-engineering courses. When a full time teaching position opened up for Pre-engineering at Ashley Ridge, Ms. Kofoid made the transfer. She decided the opportunities to learn were abundant in a small school setting. During her time at Ashley Ridge, she successfully completed her National Board Certification, continued teaching Project Lead the Way Pre-engineering and mathematics,. She was Student Council Advisor, the SADD club liaison, as well as, First Robotics Sponsor.
Ms. Kofoid’s three children attended Fort Dorchester. Her children are furthering their education by attending college for Veterinarian, Dental Hygienist and Computer Science. Ms. Kofoid is the very proud grandmother of 1 granddaughter with another grandchild on the way.
Her hobbies include sightseeing in Charleston, biking, reading, scrapbooking, sketching, traveling, painting and gardening. Her favorite vacation spot is Curaçao.
