Hi!  My name is Lilianna Lowery and I am privileged to teach 6th Grade ELA this year!   I spent the last 5 years living in Europe with my husband and 4-year-old daughter, Savannah and we are thrilled to be new members of this community!

Nothing inspires me as much as watching my students learn.  My job satisfaction is entirely wrapped up in the successes of my students.  I want to give them every single opportunity possible.  My goal each day is to give them my absolute best and to maximize their learning experiences.  I am relentless in this regard because that is what they deserve and what will best prepare them for their futures.  To this end, I relish in their every victory and support them through every stumble, feeling privileged to experience this time in their lives with them.

As far as my education, I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Boston University.  After serving for seven years as a Naval Surface Warfare Officer, I decided to pursue a career in Education and attended an Alternative Teaching Certification Program through the University of West Florida.  In order to better hone my craft, I returned to school and received my Masters in Education with a concentration in Literacy (K-12) from the University of North Florida and became a Reading Specialist.  I also received my Masters in English from Southern New Hampshire University.

When I am not teaching, I am reading.  I have always been an avid reader and have distinct memories of being told to put my book down and go play outside.  I view reading as an opportunity to crawl inside someone else’s imagination and explore.  I cannot get enough of it; I am utterly fascinated.  Also, because I consider myself somewhat of a perpetual student who will never stop learning, my favorite genre is historical fiction.
