The Dorchester School District Two Board of Trustees met July 18, 2022, and named three individuals to administrator positions.
Assistant Superintendent
Dr. Kenneth Wilson, DDTwo’s Director of Staff Development & Teacher Evaluation, will serve as Assistant Superintendent, which was a vacant position. Dr. Wilson has 32 years of experience in education, with previous roles including math and computer science teacher, assistant headmaster of curriculum & instruction, preschool director, district principal intern, assistant principal, principal, supervisor of hearing officers, district test coordinator & data analyst, and director of high schools & career/technical education.
Under his leadership, he coordinated approximately 15,000 sessions of professional development, helped to significantly increase the district’s graduation rate, implemented the district’s Early College Program, and helped his high school to receive the Palmetto Gold award for academic achievement twice.
Dr. Wilson received his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education from Charleston Southern University, and his master’s degree in Education and his education specialist degree from The Citadel. Focusing on the successful relationship between alternative learning programs and origin schools, he received his doctorate in Philosophy from the University of South Carolina.
Dr. Wilson’s family lives and attends school within DDTwo.
District Director of Athletics
Tyronne Drakeford, who currently serves as Activities Director/Head Football coach in the Kershaw County School District, joins DDTwo as District Director of Athletics. He has 23 years of experience with roles in education, nonprofits, and athletics that include serving as Regional Athletic Director and Executive Director for Boys & Girls Club organizations and playing as cornerback in the NFL.
He was named AD of the Year twice and Coach of the Year twice for Class AA - Region IV in the South Carolina High School League. He was inducted into the Virginia Tech University Hall of Fame and the Fork Union Military Academy Hall of Fame.
He received his bachelor’s degree in Finance from Virginia Tech University and his master’s degree in Athletic Administration from Ohio University.
Chief of Military Community Relations
Karean Troy, who currently serves as the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the Military Community District Liaison in the Kershaw County School District, joins DDTwo as Chief of Military Community Relations. She has 25 years in education and is a veteran with 31 years of military service. A few of her previous roles include university and secondary level academic advisor; elementary, middle and high school counselor; Warrior Transition Unit Company Commander; G3 Operations Officer and National Disaster Medical Systems; and Patient Administration Officer at Fort Jackson’s Federal Coordinating Center Columbia.
Under her leadership, KCSD obtained and maintained its Purple Star designation, which recognizes significant commitment to supporting military families and students of servicemen and women.
She’s a certified School Counselor and received her bachelor’s degree in Interpersonal and Public Communication and her master’s degree in Counseling Community Agency Personnel from Central Michigan University.
