I came to Summerville, South Carolina and Dorchester District 2 in 1998 with 16 years of teaching experience. As a teacher at Oakbrook Elementary School, I was introduced to and trained in the STEPS program of phonics instruction, and I have been a champion of the power of this program since that time. I earned a B.A. in Early Childhood Education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and have completed my M.Ed in Elementary Leadership and Administration at the Citadel. I had the privilege of participating in the South Carolina Reading Initiative for three years and have served as a literacy intervention teacher as well as the System 44 teacher at Fort Dorchester Elementary School. I will be the assistant principal at Summerville Elementary School this coming school year. I am passionately dedicated to helping children realize their highest potential emotionally, socially and academically.
